Parcel with *Thousands* of Stamps

Only Heleen (the Netherlands) is able to send a birthday parcel with so many stamps stuck. And I am only showing the front and back of it: there were more in the lateral! 

The packet itself is a present. She even wrote a message for the post deliverer to smuggle it under the door if I wan't at home. Happily, I was. Otherwise, it would have been necessary to dig a tunnel under the door to allow this big present to pass...

This is the description of the stamps on the Singapore Post site:

Nineteenth-century Singapore was a vibrant commercial centre. But beneath the prosperity, Singapore remained undeveloped in many areas including education. There was little public demand for formal education and the government in British India at that time was unwilling to channel money into developing education, much less the education of girls.

This stamp issue depicts the early education and skills that girls received in Singapore.

Longing for Spring Flowers?

I received this envelope from Phillip (the USA) last week, on 12 March. How cool is when the cacti say your name? I must confess that I didn't realise it at first sight, and I wondered why only my surname was on the envelope. Silly me!

If you have a look at the mail I got the same day (three letters and a postcard), you will discover a pattern: there are flowers on all the stamps! I guess my friends are waiting for the spring to come...

Women on Stamps | D for Dolto

Françoise Dolto (1908-1988) was a French pediatrician and psychoanalyst. All her life, she worked for the cause of children, with the aim of making them to grow up; she contributed by her work to radically change the look that adults have made on the children. She remains a reference for children's professionals and the general public. 

The stamp was issued in 2018.

Which Cancellation Do You Prefer?

Ok, just a rhetorical question.

This is not exception. I have a collection of beautifully cancelled stamps. These are only the last ones I have got. I really like the zeal Royal Mail puts in doing its job right.

Trunks & Horns

In my language, we use the same word for 'trunk' and 'horn': trompa. And, strange it might seem, that was the matter of the letter inside...

Special & Beautiful Post Boxes

This postcard was sent by John (the UK) last December. It was posted in a musical Christmas post box in Line Street Station, Liverpool. You can read more about this mail adventure and see the festive post box on John's blog.

On the back, some matching stamps (attacked by the dreadful postal blue pen!!),

South Africa's older letter box still in use is in Worcester Street, Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. The box was erected in about 1856 and is fluted in design, with a horizontal letter slot with a flap. The box is traditional Post Office red.
