Little International Post Museum

Letter sent to Heleen (the Netherlands).

This is one of the letters of which I feel proudest. I spent a lot of time designing and building this little museum. My friend was really busy last months, so I wanted to offer her the chance to visit a museum without leaving home. More views of the main and only (so far) room of the museum:

One of the purposes of this work has to do with one of my resolutions for 2014. I must say it is the first time I have something like "This Year Resolutions". And probably I have just this one: send less mail. Strange? The fact is that I sent a big amount of mail last year. Let's say too much. I know that usually the letter writers wish a full mail box every day. But I am the kind of people who answers every received piece of correspondence. And who tries to do that in a reasonable period of time. So sometimes I felt overwhelmed. Indeed my goal is not sending less mail, just better. I guess that if I spend more time in every letter, I will be sending less mail. But this will be more meaningful for the receivers (I hope).

And the second purpose of building the museum? It was doing something I had never dared: writing a letter in a white wall!

Of course the exhibited works are worth visiting!

And is really useful to have a museum you can fit in a normal-size envelope. Especially if it needs to be sent to your friends!

  3. I absolutely love it! As a big museum lover (I've got my Ba in museum studies) I would be a very happy girl if I would ever find a mini museum in my mailbox!

    1. A BA in museum studies? I even didn't know that think exists, it sounds great! I'm just a big visitor of museums. Which kind of museum would you like to receive the most?

  4. It's great - and it arrived safe and soound, thank you very, very much, Hawwa!!!!!
I feel very lucky to now have a pocket size Museum, and even a museum on one of my most favourite subjects: Post!
And to be welcomed by a Snail on/at the front door is 'cool', too :-)

Oh, and I understand your resolution to send less mail so well. How I recognize your feeling of being overwhelmed by mail, while, in my case, not being able to answer everyone within a reasonable time and feeling guilty on that... So I think I'll join your good example.
But first go back to enjoy the Museum - and thank you for sharing your pictures, so everyone can enjoy!

    1. Oh, I'm glad to know that you got it. Because some letters and postcards I sent in those days are still travelling...

Well, a pocket museum is always useful, in case you become suddenly hungry of knowledge or you need a restful place (just to get away from lost keys and hair cuts, you know).

    2. (However, due to a high amount of cheese I don't fit in the inside of the museum anymore..)
